Always prime the oil pump with a cordless drill before starting a dormant engine. Remember you’ll need to reverse the drill direction to operate a counter-clockwise-rotation Pontiac oil pump. Our Milodon high-volume pump gave the drill a workout, showing impressive oil pressure; we only had to prime it for 30-40 seconds before oil flowed from the rockers.
